Yvonne Ilene Willett

Yvonne Ilene Willett was born on November 30, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Thelma (Moody) Bergin. Yvonne grew up in Lansing, graduating from Eastern High School in 1965. She met the love of her life, Calvin (Sam) Douglas Willett, after being hired by him at his Bodyshop in 1974, and they were married for 44 years.

Yvonne was a devoted homemaker, who took great pride in caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and was known for her delicious meals and her beautiful crocheting. She enjoyed gardening and could often be found tending to her flower beds. She was also a talented artist, and her paintings and sketches will be treasured by her loved ones.

Yvonne had a warm smile and a gentle spirit that radiated love, compassion and could still have a good sarcastic response in a picking manner. Her hero and biggest role model was her grandfather Orland Moody who taught her how to be respectful and meek yet still stand for what she believed. Her kindness, compassion, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband; Calvin “Sam” Willett, her children Todd King 58, Camilla (Jeff) Gillig 43, her son in law Clinton Ford 71, her grandchildren Jodi (Moe) Marchand 34, Billie Sailor 32, Ryan King 32, Livianna Gotts 22, Madison Gotts 16, her great grandchildren Scout, Ivy, Leif, and her sibling Elaine Orvis.

Yvonne was preceded in death by Mother Thelma Mae Moody-Bergin, Father James Henry Bergin, and Daughter Nicole (Clinton) King- Ford, and siblings Dennis, Larry, Ronald, and Jim.

The family has opted for a private memorial on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St Jude’s and or The Humane Society.

Yvonne will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Rest with the Lord our God, our dear wife and mother. John 10:28 “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

    Yvonne,
May you rest peacefully in your Heavenly home. I got to be your sister in law for 5 precious years, and Nicki and Travis were born a month apart, so we spent a lot of time together at Moon Lake, and you taught me so much. Over the years, I have always thought of you, with love, for the many things we shared, and the wonderful things I learned, just by watching you. May God Bless your family, now and evermore.
    With love,
    Patti Burch ( Bordes )

    Aunt Yvonne,
I am truly saddened to hear that you left this earth. I know I didn’t get much time with you after we finally met but I always felt a true connection to you. I also felt I looked so much like you. Say hi to my dad for me and Uncle Ronnie. Love always, your nephew Travis. (Larry’s son)

Yvonne, I was your sister in law for 5 years. I was married to Larry, and had two little boys with him. You and I were pregnant together, with Nicki and Travis, and spent many days together at Moon Lake. You taught me so much, and I learned how to make a great taco from you. I know many arms were waiting to welcome you home, and Nicki is with her mama again. May God bless your family, and help them to deal with your loss.
    Love,
    Patti Burch ( Bordes)
