William Michael McNeil
William Michael McNeil, age 79, of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, with his beloved wife and family by his side. He was born on January 17, 1947.
William recently relocated to Grand Blanc from Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he and his wife, Nora, enjoyed many happy years together. Together, Bill and Nora shared 56 wonderful years of marriage and proudly raised three amazing sons.
Bill was a proud American who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. During his service, he was wounded in combat and was awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice. His courage, resilience, and deep love for his country remained a source of pride throughout his life. Those who knew him admired his quiet strength, unwavering patriotism, and the sacrifices he made in service to our nation.
Bill found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer and bowler who loved playing Bingo, cards, and trying his luck at the casino. He had a special talent for decorating for the holidays, with Halloween holding a special place in his heart. Every year, he eagerly anticipated dressing in costume for the Halloween party at his clubhouse, creating memories that brought smiles to everyone around him.
Above all else, Bill cherished his family. Whether celebrating milestones, sharing stories, or simply spending time together, he found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by those he loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nora McNeil; his sons: William Jr. (Denise) McNeil, Todd McNeil, and Justin (Heather) McNeil; his cherished grandchildren: Marina (Ben) Vesel, Austin (Katie) McNeil, Billy McNeil, Lexi McNeil, Carson McNeil, Madelynn McNeil, and Taryn McNeil; his adored great-grandchildren: Myles Vesel and Piper Vesel; his siblings: Stanley (Ditte) McNeil, Thomas (Diane) McNeil, Sharon (Nancy) McNeil, Jeffrey McNeil, and Mary McNeil; his sister-in-law, Gayle Norton; his brother-in-law, James (Linda) White Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of family, his unwavering patriotism, his festive spirit, and his ability to bring joy to every holiday and every gathering. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the values he instilled, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing Bill’s legacy of love, laughter, patriotism, and devotion to family will live on through the generations who were blessed to call him husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.

We only knew Bill for a few years. We met when my wife and I moved into Kings Isle. We played golf together and socialized around the clubhouse. I was always impressed with his humble and kind personality. He never emphasized his brave wartime history. To know Bill was to love him. He will be sorely missed ! Bill left a beautiful and lasting footprint on Kings Isle. It has been a true pleasure and privilege to call Bill and Nora our friends for the past nine years.
Bill and Nora’s story began with their proud service to our country, and that spirit of dedication and generosity remained with Bill throughout his life. Whether he was golfing, bowling, playing Texas Hold ’em, playing out “I-22, two-two!” at Bingo, enjoying costume parties, or creating his famous holiday trees and decorations, Bill brought happiness wherever he went.
Bill represented the very best in all of us. He always had a joke to share, a smile to offer, or a kind word to brighten someone’s day. The legacy he leaves in Kings Isle is one of friendship, laughter, and joy.
We will remember Bill with great fondness and will always hold him in our hearts. We pray he is resting in peace.

I only knew Bill a short time from Bowling with him. He had a great spirit and a big heart. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
We will miss Bill. His kindness and genuine spirit were treasured by all his Florida friends. We had the pleasure of playing golf and bingo together many times through the years with him, and it was always a special time.

I was fortunate to have known Bill for a long time. He re-introduced me to bowling about 7 years ago and did his best to improve my score to no avail. Not his fault. I also golfed with him and consider him one of the nicest people I have ever known. I miss him already.

Bill was a good man, who served his country and community honorably. Bill always greeted you with a smile, every time I hear I-22 I will forever think of Bill McNeil.
I will always remember Bill from Bingo at King’s Isle in Port Saint Lucie. I was the Bingo caller and whenever I would call I-22 Bill would blow this wooden whistle. That was Bill’s favorite number. To me that was and will always remind me of Bill when I call that number.
