Theodore (Ted) Lee McGinnis


Age 75, of Flint, was called Home by the Lord on May 30, 2024. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at Detroit Cremation Society, 8253 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Jamar Gibson to officiate. Family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm. Donations can be made directly to the family, in lieu of flowers Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Theodore’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Theodore (Ted) Lee McGinnis was born on May 7, 1949, in Charlevoix, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orval and Arthie (Smith) McGinnis. Ted was the youngest of 12 children. Ted enlisted in the Army at 18 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the 1st Calvary Division. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family dearly. Ted had a lifelong passion for music. He loved to play his guitar for his children and grandchildren. Ted will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Surviving Ted are his daughters Tracy (Mike) Desgrange, Tabitha (Tim) Livingston, Melanie Moore and his son Theodore Moore, his 4 step children Ronald Moore, Connie Goward and Kimberly Kenworthy. Also, surviving Ted are his 3 sisters Velma (Joe) Powell, Lois (Dick) Way and Zola (Sam) Speakes.

Ted is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jewell Moore, his parents Orval and Arthie McGinnis, his sister Leona Taylor and his brothers Marvin, Vernon, Dewey, Wayman, Winston (Lovell), Willard and Manford McGinnis.
