Age 71, of Burton, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church, 4222 Elms Road, Flushing, Michigan. Family will be present to receive friends Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and again on Saturday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at 1:00pm with a meal provided afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to Trinity Baptist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Robert’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Robert Leroy Willis was born on September 4, 1954, in Clare, Michigan, the son of Ervin and Bonnie (Grove) Willis. Robert graduated as a member of the class of 1972 from Harrison High School. He worked as a truck driver for Penske Logistics for 25 years before his retirement in 2018.

He married Sonja Jo Breault on July 20, 1974 at Skeels Baptist Church in Gladwin, Michigan. The two were blessed with almost 52 years of marriage, as well as three children.

Dedicated to his faith, Robert was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and camping with his family, reading (especially his Bible), witnessing and spending as much time with his family as he could.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Sonja (Breault) Willis; his two sons: Tim Willis of Flint, Jason Willis and wife, Stephanie (Jones) of Midland; his daughter, Malinda (Willis) Strickert and husband, Todd of Swartz Creek; his beloved grandchildren: Liliana, Hunter, Adaline, Dawson, Lincoln, Sawyer, Taggart, Leah, and Alexander; his mother, Bonnie (Grove) Willis of Gladwin; his sister, Melody Willis of Gladwin; his brothers: Mike Willis and wife, Kaaren of Vestaburg, Bill Willis and wife, Cheryl of Edmore, Tony Willis and wife, Ann of Farwell, Randy Willis and wife, Gloria of Pinconning; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Willis; his brother, Danny Willis; and his grandparents: Walter and Ineda Willis, and Wilbur and Mary Grove.
