Kent Allen Gendreau

On January 29th, 2025, Kent Allen Gendreau passed away. Kent was born to Albert and Judy Gendreau, on November 17th, 1956, in Omaha, Nebraska. He resided in Flint, Michigan, spending much of his adult life around the Greenville area.

Kent attended high school in Mason, Michigan, before entering into the Marine Core between 1974 and 1977. Kent was a security guard and a baker in the military during his time served.

Kent’s dad Al (Dorothy) died in 1987 and mom Judy (Dave) Bovell in 2004. Dave Bovell passed in 2019. Once Kent was honorably discharged from active service, he spent the next 42 years working in the field of plastic injections molding.

Kent loved sports, specifically his Detroit Lions. He wanted to see the Lions go to the Superbowl before he left us. Apparently, the Lions did not hold up on their end! Kent loved all sports-he even played softball, pool, bowling and golf. Kent leaves behind five children. His eldest is Jason Scott (Kim) Gendreau. Jason’s love of sports even eclipsed that of his dad. As a baseball coach and educator, Jason made Kent very proud.

Kent’s second son is Alexander David Gendreau from the Greenville area. Next down the pike is Austin (Ky) Gendreau who lives in North Dakota, closely followed by daughters Olivia Rae Gendreau and Sammi Jean Gendreau, who reside in Florida.
Mourning Kent’s loss is his long-time love and wife Cheryl. Kent married Cheryl September 26, 2020, after 6 a year courtship. Cheryl’s children adored Kent, starting with Rodger (Cendra) Pecknyo, James Pecknyo (predeceased), Shane (Courtney) Pecknyo, and Albert Baird III (AJ). Kent was happy.

Kent leaves behind 2 siblings and 5 grandchildren. Kent’s oldest brother was Scott Paul Gendreau (predeceased), Jody (David) Warner of Howard City, MI, whose husband David is also predeceased), a sister Penny Bovell (predeceased), and brother, Timothy (Jason Studley) Gendreau, who resides in Washington state.

Kent died from Lung Cancer after only a 3-month battle. On behalf of Kent and his family, we encourage others to prioritize their mental, emotional and physical health.
