Age 66, of Flushing, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Karen’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Karen Marie (Lewandowski) O’Keefe was born on May 2, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Geraldine (Dresden) Lewandowski. Karen was a hardworking woman with a vibrant personality and a beautiful ability to light up every room she entered. She loved spending time with the people she cared about and enjoyed playing euchre with her friends, family, and church group. On the weekends, Karen could often be found bowling or singing karaoke, making memories and having a good time with those around her. And if she saw a yard sale sign on the street, you could bet Karen was going to stop and see what treasures she might find!

Karen found great comfort and joy in her faith. She loved attending Bible studies with her friends at her apartment and cherished the friendships and fellowship that came from her faith. One of Karen’s favorite ways to relax was taking long car rides, sometimes with no destination in mind. She simply enjoyed being on the road, taking in the sights, and enjoying the journey. Karen accomplished many things throughout her life, but her greatest and most cherished accomplishment was the love she gave to the people around her. She was a devoted mother, a loving sister and daughter, and a treasured friend. To those who knew and loved her, Karen was truly one of a kind. Her warmth, laughter, generous spirit, and love for others will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Sean and Nicholas; her daughters: Michelle and MaryBeth; sister: Donna (Al); her brothers: Larry and Bobby; and her grandchildren: Nathan, Hailey, and Caroline.

Karen was preceded in death by her Mother: Geraldine; and her brother: Skeets.
