Joyclyn Lewis

Our beloved mother, grandmother, Joyclyn Lewis, passed away on October 6th, 2024 at the age of 89. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Joyclyn’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Joyclyn Jeanne Lewis was born on July 22, 1935, in Gladwin, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. Jesse and Mrs. Doris (Raby) Rowe.

Joyclyn is preceded in death by husband of over 30 years Allen Russell and daughters Margaret and Marlene. She is survived by her son Gary, as well daughters Kathleen and Loretta.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and friend, she was also a loving grandmother to Jessica, Sarah, Rachael, Kelly, Carrie, Heather, Quinton, Chris and Jennifer, and a great grandmother to Sean, Emma, Carter, Grayson, Landon, Makalah, Eyla Rae, Layla, Everette, Grace, Caleb, Elizabeth, Gwen and Kylee.

She was the heart and soul of our family, and will be dearly missed. At Joyclyn’s request, there will be no services. It is her wish that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others, not the sadness we all feel with her passing. That we remember her through love and laughter not through sorrow and tears.

The family will be making available a slideshow, highlighting Joyce’s life through words and photos. This slideshow will be shared with all of her friends and loved ones once it has been completed.

I remember Aunt Joyce with fondness from times when your family visited the farm but mostly when my Grandma and Grandpa ( Thelma (Lewis)and Doug MacArthur) would bring me to play with cousins Loretta and Margaret when they camped at Sunken Lake. So long ago but the admiration of your big family has stuck with me all these years.
