Janet Sue Sheldon

Age 74, of Grand Blanc, passed away on March 22, 2023. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Janet’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Janet Sue Sheldon was born on November 14, 1948, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Shirley (Lewis) Boa.  Janet worked at the Genesee County Register of Deeds for 20 years, where she cherished her time with so many amazing people that became her friends and extended family!  After retiring, Janet spent much of her time being “Grandma Jan” to not only her grandkids, but to the kids of all her dear friends!  Jan would be found on the sidelines of every grandkids’ sporting event that she could get to.  She was a fierce friend and truly would share everything she had, especially a piece of her mind.  Janet loved spending time with the “Golden Girls”, with whom would frequent many area restaurants.  Janet absolutely adored Higgins Lake and Lake Huron, where she bought every t-shirt, sticker and candle produced.

Janet is survived by her son; Steven (Julie) Sheldon of Flushing, her grandchildren; Sean and Eve, her two brothers; Donald Boa and David (Teresa) Boa, countless nieces and nephews, as well as many others who knew her as Grandma Jan.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents; William and Shirley Boa, her son; Shawn Sheldon, and Sister-in-Law; Barbara Boa.

In lieu of flowers, Janet has requested donations be made to Special Olympics. (https://support.specialolympics.org/)

Janet was my moms best friend( Susan Makela) and truly part of our family. The stories I have in my memories are plentiful and will always be cherished. She was “Aunte Jante” to my siblings, husband and kids. Mom used to call her “Ja-nay Du-bwa” with affection. There are so many of my families major and minor life events that included Janet. I am so grateful that she and I kept in touch after mom passed and that I was able to chat with her at length recently. She talked quite a bit about Steven, Julie and her grandkids. My most sincere condolences to Janet’s entire family. I will miss her a lot.

I hadn’t any clue my dear friend had died. My heart is broken again. I met Jantesue at building 24, in Fountain Pointe over 25 years ago. We became immediate friends. Both Jan and I had son’s that were brilliant and we were raising by ourselves. To Steven and Julie, and kids, I hadn’t seen your Mom since Kaleb died. I was grieving so terribly after that tragic traumatic absolutely unimaginable death of Kale. I loved your Mom, as did Kaleb. It’s Easter morning of this year 2023. What a blow to my heart to read this. She was funny, witty, and we could sit and laugh all the time. There’s so much I want to say, all the memories. I’m so sad and my heart goes out to you. I’m trying to move on with this different new life I have to move on with, without Kale. I have pictures of your Mom and I at parties and such. Please keep me informed about when you decide to do her Celebration of Life. I wouldn’t miss it! My phone is 810-428-3373, my email is kdagenais3@gmail.com. It seems as though I’ve lost so many loved and important people in my life. Christ be with all of you. At mass I will light a candle and say a prayer for my dearest, beloved friend, now in heaven. Goodbye Janet, Kimi Patricia. Steven and Julie, please feel free to call me. I just have some questions, this seems so sudden to me. 💔
