Geraldine Maxine Neville


Geraldine “Geri” (VanEtten) Neville, age 93, of Hale, formerly of Goodrich/Grand Blanc, passed away July 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Geri’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Geri was born on March 26, 1929, in Flint, Michigan to the late Cleo B. and Vera M. (Peterson) VanEtten. She married Eugene “Red” Neville in June 1948 in Flint. Geri enjoyed living at West Londo Lake in the house she helped her father build, before moving to Long Lake in Hale. She was an extraordinary person, who was much loved by all those who knew her. She served in the Ladies Auxiliary at Wheelock Memorial Hospital and headed up the Goodrich March of Dimes. She studied Interior design at Mott and started “Interior Design’s by Geri.” She also co-owned Neville’s Waste Collection, Inc. for 26 years and The Towne Shoppe of Grand Blanc, with her daughter, Angie. When she moved back to Hale she owned Long Lake Bar, then opened Hale Asphalt Paving and a resale consignment store in Hale. She was also a member of Hale Eagles Aerie #4217 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #422 of Hale.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Totten, and brother, William “Bill” VanEtten, both of Grand Blanc; children, Angela (Earl) Wallace of Grand Blanc, Clifford (Patti) Neville of Goodrich, Julia Neville of Hale, grandchildren, Autumn Kovacs, Bryan Wallace (Amber Nolan) of Grand Blanc, Shell Wallace of Missouri, Earl Wallace, Jr. of Florida, Amanda Neville of Grand Blanc, Christianne Schojan-Rider (Troy) of Goodrich; great-grandchildren, Shelby Conn, Taylor Grogitski, Sophia Kritzman, Van and Veena Schojan of Goodrich, Kaitlyn King of Wisconsin, Jesse Wallace, Kimber Wallace, and great-great-grandchild, Mason King; and many nieces and nephews.

Geri was preceded in death by her brothers, Donovan and John “Jack” VanEtten.

In accordance with Geri’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Geri’s life on July 30th at the American Legion Post #422, Hale. MI starting at 4 pm.

There will be an additional celebration of life on September 10th at 3 pm at the home of Angie and Earl Wallace, 8195 Jordan Rd, Grand Blanc, MI contact angiew@directproperties.com.
