Fred,
Rest in love in heaven my friend. You will always be remembered. Prayers over your wife and family.
Dear family of Fred, I am Marie Macaulay. I lived in the house behind Fred’s house on Vassar road at the end of the long driveway. I remember Fred fondly as a good neighbor and good friend. He was always there for me when I needed help. He always mowed my lawn at the end of the driveway for me. I am sorry to hear of Fred’s passing.
I am so sorry for your loss. Fred was like my father during my teen years helping to provide stability for me. I am eternally grateful for his compassion and support especially during those times. I remember being in awe of his creations and inventions he would excitedly show me in the garage. I was so impressed! He would share with me how excited he was when he was invited to China and what he got to do there. He had Manitoba in the fire but he never lost what was most important to him; his family. He loved each one of you with all his heart and was so proud of his kids and grandkids. Fred will be missed in many ways. I love you all..

So sorry to hear the news. I met Fred for the first time as a Design intern at GM’s first California Design Studio in Newbury Park way back in 1987. He was kind, patient and a great mentor to a young and learning designer. Our paths crossed many times later in Detroit as we both worked together in several studios over the years. What a kind, great man who loved to explore and create. prayers and best wishes to the whole family at this challenging time. he truly left a wonderful impression with so many!!
My husband, Gary, went to high school with Fred in Detroit and only learned that we and Fred (and Elizabeth) live in Santa Barbara ….when they met at one of the later high school reunions in Detroit. We subsequently spent many wonderful times together in Santa Barbara. Gary and Fred had much to talk about, both having been in auto design. We were very sad when Fred’s professional opportunities took him and Elizabeth back to Michigan. We stayed in touch but missed him. He was a kind man who loved his children dearly. We are saddened by his passing.
Prayers for Fred and his family. He was always a pleasure to be around, and I am glad I had the opportunity to know and work with him.
