Farol Ida Henkle was born on November 9, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Alice (Stoian) Gast. Farol was a longtime member of the Michigan State Trust for Railroad Preservation/Steam Railroading Institute, Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society.
