Dennis James (DJ) DeVries, Jr.


Age 46, of Hastings, passed away on April 19, 2024. A Funeral Visitation will take place at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at Detroit Cremation Society, 8253 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. Family will be present to receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Following the visitation, family and friends will have a private gathering in which the location will be announced at a later time. In accordance with his wishes, cremation is to take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Dennis’ Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Dennis James (DJ) DeVries, Jr. was born on June 20, 1977, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Jo Ann DeVries-Withey and late Dennis James DeVries, Sr. Those who knew D.J. will tell you that he had a tremendous passion for the outdoors, especially fishing. He could often be found hunting, fishing, camping, rafting, etc. with his family and friends.  His keen sense of humor ensured that any time shared with him was filled with laughter.

Although, being in nature brought him great happiness and peace His life will be celebrated with friends and family.

Surviving DJ are his two sons; Dennis DeVries III and Maxwell DeVries, his siblings Shawn, Sarah and Emily.

DJ is preceded in death by his father Dennis James DeVries Sr., Barb DeVries, paternal grandparents Maxine and James Peter DeVries, maternal grandparents Anthony and Elvia Snarski.

    So glad to have known Dennis and part of our family. Chanda and Dennis did everything together. Made lots of memories which we will cherish. He will be missed. RIP

    when I meet him for the first time he looks very alert and always smile and he seems always quite but that’s who he is and he always came to my house every Christmas Eve he knows family gather for Christmas Eve are important and may his soul on God s hand now with peace and love .
