Dean Johnson
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dean Johnson of Grand Blanc, who peacefully left us on January 10, 2025, at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan.
Dean will be remembered for his enthusiasm for life and his love for the outdoors. He enjoyed activities such as hunting, camping, gardening, dirt bike riding, snowmobiling, and boating. He also liked to play cards, horseshoes, grill, and watch his favorite sports teams. Dean had a deep passion for his “up north” lifestyle, spending most of his time working on his property, enjoying the lake, or simply relaxing while listening to his favorite classic rock music. A true animal lover, he raised and cared for many animals including rabbits, chickens, pheasants, quail, and his canine companions, Shatzi and Reggie.
Dean was also known for his wisdom and knowledge. Generous and helpful, he loved teaching others the skills he had learned throughout his life. He was self-sufficient and capable of mastering anything he set his mind to. Professionally, he was an expert in heating and cooling, graduated from MIT College of Detroit, and worked at Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills for 32 years before his well-earned retirement.
While Dean exemplified hard work and responsibility, he treasured spending time with family and friends during all holidays and gatherings. He looked forward to traveling to family events, no matter the distance. Always ready for a good time, he loved to party and enjoyed making new friends.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his children, Zachary, Lucas, Denver, Ciara, Lauryn, and Seth; his siblings, Dale, Doug, and Diane; and his nieces and nephews, Eric, Sandra, Jacob, Greg, Nick, and Ashley. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Nancy (Sager) Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Detroit Cremation Society, located at 8253 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or AdvisaCare Hospice. Expressions of sympathy can be shared with the family on Dean’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com .
