Rye, Daniel Harry (Danny) of Flint, Michigan age 78. Died November 21, 2023, at home with his wife Jill. Cremation has taken place. He will be buried at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, with military honors in the Spring of 2024.

Danny was born in Flint, Michigan on February 16, 1945, to his parents Harry A. and Bernice (Schermerhorn-Parks) Rye.

He attended Flint Southwestern High School but graduated in the service. He served in the US army from 1966 to 1970. He was seriously wounded in Vietnam when the tank he was in was blown up. He received an honorable discharge as an E4. On July 26, 1975, he married Jill Rye.

Danny worked at the General Motors V8 Engine plant for 17 years. In 1985 Jill and Danny along with Lee & Eunice Catrell bought a cabin resort (L’Da Ru) in Traverse City, Michigan located on Spider Lake. They sold it in 2000 and retired to Kalkaska, Michigan. where they lived until moving back to Flint in 2018.

Jill & Danny were never able to have children, but they had several dog fur babies to love.

He was involved with the Grand Traverse area snowmobile club for several years grooming and maintaining the trails. In the winter their resort catered to the snowmobilers and had many loyal customers in all the four seasons. Danny also enjoyed fishing and boating.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and brother Art Rye.

He is survived by his wife Jill, of 48 years and his brothers-in-law Terry & Barry and sister-in-law Gina along with many nieces and nephews and his dogs Foxy and Zoey.

Danny was a very friendly, loving man and will be missed by many.
