Christine Quakenbush


Christine Quakenbush, age 70, passed away August 19, 2022, in Flint, Michigan at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Christine’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Christine Quakenbush was born on May 27, 1952, in Detroit, (moving to Southfield, then Flint) the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theotrice and Eula (Williams) Chambers. Christine graduated from Kettering High School, worked for Consumer Powers for over 20 years, and obtained her real estate license. She loved fishing, gardening, and watching boxing events; especially matches with local boxers. Christine enjoyed living in the house her husband rebuilt and particularly enjoyed spending time in the yard enjoying the peacefulness of her own private oasis. Christine was an amazing woman who touched so many lives with her open heart, strength, kindness, and sometimes tough love.

Surviving Christine is her husband who she loved dearly; Richard Quakenbush, one daughter; Katrinia Matthews, three sons; Jesse C. Matthews Jr. (her partner in fun), Jacob Quakenbush, and Joseph Quakenbush, one grand-daughter; Jessica Matthews-Johnson, five sisters; Patricia Rainey (Michael), Debra Lee (Robert), Tonya Pickett (Leroy), Venita Chambers and Benita Chambers, two brothers; Theotrice Chambers Jr. (Joyce), Darrell Chambers, a mother-in-law that was like a second mom; Carol Quakenbush, a father-in-law she loved dearly; Floyd Bernard Quakenbush Jr., two sister-in-laws; Susie Thomas (Dr. Mark) and Kathleen Burch, one brother-in-law; Tom (Judy) Quakenbush, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and many family and friends who will cherish the memories of Christine forever.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; Mr. and Mrs. Theotrice and Eula (Williams) Chambers, one brother; Logan Chambers, and two sisters; Theresa Chambers and Chinyere Wainwright (James).

In accordance with Christine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Christine’s life on Friday, September 2, 2022; at the Quakenbush home from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Flint, MI 48506.
