Charles “Al” Camper
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles “Al” Camper, who left this world peacefully surrounded by family on June 22, 2026 at the age of 68. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Al’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.
Al lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family. He spent more than 40 years as a journeyman industrial painter, earning the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, skill, and leadership. Through years of commitment and perseverance, he worked his way up to the position of foreman, a role he held with pride and humility. His career was more than a job; it was a testament to his determination, craftsmanship, and the values he carried throughout his life.
Above all else, Al was a devoted family man. He found his greatest happiness in spending time with those he loved, especially his children and grandchildren, whose laughter and accomplishments brought him endless pride and joy. His love, wisdom, and steady presence will remain with them always.
Al embraced life’s simple pleasures and cherished the moments they created. Whether he was casting a line on a peaceful lake, enjoying a round of golf, or cheering on his beloved Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions, he approached every day with enthusiasm and loyalty. He had a lifelong appreciation for Westerns and classic cars and believed that music had a way of bringing people together and lifting the spirit.
Those who knew him will remember his kind heart, quiet strength, sense of humor, and the genuine interest he took in the lives of others. He created lasting memories through family gatherings, shared stories, and the example he set of hard work, generosity, and unconditional love.
Al is survived by his children Ryan Camper (Toni Pierce) and Allison Camper (Aaron Tims), their Mother Deborah Camper, 8 grandchildren Pierce, Paetyn, Lorelai, Brycen, Cylis, Leyland, Lennox, Baylor and granddog Barron, sister Vickie Gibbs (Larry), brother-in-law Richard Hartman, and a gang of nieces, nephews and cousins who will forever cherish the memories they shared. Al was preceded in death by brother Gary, mother-law Eileen, mother Helen, step-father Allen and father Leroy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4101 S. Sheridan Rd. Lennon, MI 48449 on July 12th from 1:00-4:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that guests bring their favorite memories and pictures to share with others, or that you honor his memory by spending time with your loved ones, enjoying the outdoors, or cheering on the Wolverines or the Lions, just as he would have.
Though he will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, and the countless memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Go Blue!

Big Al, this is Elie Rizk, and I am truly touched by this news. You always welcomed me into your home, provided meals, offered snacks, and allowed me to play freely, among many other things. I always felt secure at your place, never having to worry, thanks to both you and Mrs. taking such wonderful care of us kids. I spent countless days and nights there. When it was time to stop playing, you communicated it to us with respect, never raising your voice, always maintaining a respectful demeanor. The world will feel your absence. Please watch over us from the heavens and guide us on the right path. May you rest in peace!
