Marshall Hubert Causbie

Age 84, of Oxford, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday,  July 8, 2025, surrounded by his family at The Oaks at Woodfield. Born on October 1, 1940, in Stoddard County, Missouri, the son of the late Hubert and Irene (née Wing) Causbie. He married Linda Harroun on September 17, 1966, at Memorial Baptist Church in Pontiac. Together, they built a beautiful life, grounded in love, family, and the joy of their home and property.

Marshall was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He adored Linda, and together, they created a warm and loving home for their children. Marshall deeply enjoyed being outdoors, whether working his land, playing games, hunting, or just napping in the sunshine. In the summertime, he and Linda grew a large backyard garden and canned and froze produce to enjoy year-round. In the winter, he loved to play in the snow with his kids, building snowmen and teaching his children how to cross-country ski and ice skate on nearby ponds and lakes. He was a hard-working and diligent soul. He maintained and improved upon his family’s home and 3-acre property with his own two hands. His dependable, yet quiet nature always came to the forefront when a helping hand was needed; he was always willing to lend a hand to extended family, friends, and neighbors. On countless evenings and weekends, you could find him helping his parents or mother-in-law, ensuring their homes were well cared for.

He had a fun-loving and competitive spirit that shone through in church softball leagues, backyard games with his kids and nieces and nephews, and later with his grandkids. He took great joy in his role as “Papa” to his nine treasured grandchildren. He loved to build backyard campfires for the grandkids when they came to visit; they would roast hot dogs and marshmallows and later look at the stars while munching on popcorn made together with “Mimi”. With Linda by his side, he loved to teach the kids games such as Uno and Checkers and instill in them a sense of his fun-loving, competitive spirit.

Marshall’s legacy is the love and devotion he had for his family. Beloved husband of Linda, his steadfast partner for 58 years; wonderful father to Julene (Jim) Drysdale, Nadene (Rod) McNeill, and John (Jenn) Causbie; and adored “Papa” to nine grandchildren: Aiden and Adeline Drysdale; Ethan, Evan, and Eric McNeill; Doug Dible; and Kaytlynn, Nicholas, and Matthew Causbie. He is also survived by his dear brother David (Sandra) Causbie, brother-in-law Don Brundage, and sisters-in-law Mary Willson, Diann Harroun, and Susan (Jim) Burgess, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda, his parents, sisters Betty and Laura, brother-in-law Mike, and many treasured aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Celebration of Marshall’s Life will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford, 3141 Sashabaw Road. Family will receive friends on Friday at 10:00 am until service time, and a luncheon upstairs will follow the memorial service.
