Robert Nicholas Cook
Robert “Bob” Nicholas Cook, age 72, of Goodrich, passed away on August 17, 2024.
Bob was born April 13, 1952 in Detroit, to Michael Stephen and Frances Dorothy (Malinowski) Cook. On December 3, 1982, he married Gail Marie Merritt in Dearborn, MI and they recently celebrated their 41st anniversary.
In Bob’s younger years he enjoyed drag racing at Flat Rock Speedway, fishing, hunting, and listening to good music. Bob fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to a farm in 1994- spending the last 30 years caring for animals, gardening and raising his pride and joys: Jaclyn, Natalie and Katie. Bob enjoyed the simple things in life: collecting hot wheels, watching any and all sports, rewatching episodes of Blue Bloods and Chicago PD, finding a good auction deal, driving his rusted red Dodge, helping with 4H, spending time with his late dog Dutz (pronounced doots), and caring for the horses (Rowdy and Smoke), goat (Frank), cows and chickens. Although Bob embraced his girl dad title, he sure enjoyed his time with his acquired sons Scott, Jake, and Red (Shane).
Bob worked hard to provide his family a good life. He was a welder and fabricator by trade, spending most of his career with GM Truck and Bus and Lapeer Industries.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Gail; his three daughters, Jaclyn (Scott) Kelly, Natalie (Jake) Schierbeek, and Katelyn “Katie” (Shane) Smith; his four grandchildren, Molly (Mole) and Chloe (Moose) Kelly, Brooklyn (Trout) and Aubrey (Breeeeeze) Schierbeek, and a grandson expected in October (Schierbeek); his brother, Michael “Mike” (Judy) Cook; and his sister, Frances “Fran” Nedwick. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Stephen Cook; his mother, Frances Dorothy Cook; his sister, Dorothy Melton; and his brother-in-law, John Nedwick.
A memorial service will be held at his daughter, Katie’s, home in Oxford, Mi on August 24th at 2 p.m. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Bob’s obituary was written by his loving family.

There are no words to express my deep sense of sadness for the loss of my Uncle Bob, which was made even more difficult by being so far away from loved ones.
I am so grateful that we were able to spend some time with him this summer not too long ago💕
To all the Cook family, I am so sorry for your loss.

My favorite uncle! I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. He was always so much fun. I remember he loved his visits to Tennessee when I was little…maybe that helped make him into the lover of farmlife! He will be sadly missed but I’m grateful & blessed to have known him!
