Robert Carranza


Robert Carranza of Flint, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 72 years old. Born on September 26, 1953, in Dowagiac, Michigan, he was the son of Max and Mary Carranza. Robert was a devoted family man who never missed a moment with the people he loved most. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Family will be present to receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, at Detroit Cremation Society, 8253 S Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Robert’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

On February 15, 1996, he married the love of his life, Maria Carranza. Together they shared a beautiful life filled with over 30 years of love, family, and so many cherished, heartfelt memories. Raising 7 children and welcoming 9 grandchildren, who were the center of his world. Robert loved casinos, sweet treats, and spending time with his grandchildren. He spoke proudly of them to anyone who would listen, expressing his deep love for them. His life truly revolved around them, and he lived his life for their happiness.

He is survived by his children: James Carranza, Christina McCann, Vanessa (Joshua) Thomas, Ray (Malinda) Gatica, Mary Carranza, and Robert Carranza Jr. His grandchildren are Savanah Sierra (James Logie), Maliyah Gatica, Ray Gatica III, Angelena Gatica, Antonio Gatica, Madison Thomas, Analicia Gatica, Nahla, and Nayeli Carranza. His siblings; Richard, Tony, and Mary Carranza.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Carranza; his son, Robert Carranza; his parents, Max and Mary (Gonzales) Carranza; and his brothers, Max, Johnny, Gilbert, Jesse, and Mike Carranza.

    Farmers market, movies, rummage sales, breakfast and the casinos will never be the same. Losing you was another major loss for us a void that can never be filled.
