Preston Carl Taylor
Age 81, of Marlette, passed away on November 6, 2024. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private gathering of family and close friends is being planned for the spring at Marlette Cemetery where Carl’s ashes will be laid to rest. Preston Carl Taylor was born on September 2, 1943, in Palo Alto, California, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston and Nella (Roeper) Taylor. Preston served in the military during WWII and was stationed in Palo Alto at the time of Carl’s birth. Soon thereafter, Nella returned home to Marlette where Carl grew up helping run the family farm. After high school, Carl spent a short period of time working for Huntoon Lumber before beginning a 33 year career at General Motors. But Carl’s love was always farming, he farmed the original family farm all through his career at GM and well into his retirement.
Surviving Carl is his wife Shirley, his son; David Taylor (Tracy) of Brighton, Michigan, and daughters Sandra Rutledge of St. Clair, Michigan and Laurie Black of Maumee, Ohio; his sister Carol Foley (Mike) of Melbourne, Florida; stepson Jay Graybeal of Bristol, Tennesee, stepdaughters Martha Lee (Terry) of Ofallon, Missouri, Nora Smith (Glen) of Lake City, Michigan; Brenda Smith (Al) of Pentwater, Michigan, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents Preston and Nella Taylor, and his sister, Ann Halverson.
