Age 67, of Grand Blanc, passed away on May 1, 2023. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Patrick’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Patrick Michael McDermott was born on July 23, 1955, in Trenton, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Dorothy (McGee) McDermott. Patrick served his country in the United States Army. Then as he began starting his family he moved to Bakersfield, California started his career working for Getty Oil as a mechanic. As his family grew and through life changes, Patrick relocated his family back to northern Michigan becoming an accredited master mechanic working at a local GM dealership in Lincoln, Michigan. Patrick was an outdoorsman that included building his own fishing rods to support his love of bass fishing. A favorite hobby of Patrick’s was drafting homes and eventually drawing his dream home. Late in his life Patrick continued to use his knack for tinkering and fixing things, making them to be more useful to him and ultimately better. Patrick was a great son, father, grandfather, and friend. Patrick was the type of man that would go without for others in need.

Patrick is survived by his brother Brian McDermott, daughter; Margaret (Stephen) Deller, grandchildren; Sage McDermott, Griffin, Grace, Gavin, Grady, and Gwendolyn Deller.

Patrick is preceded in death by father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Dorothy (McGee) McDermott, brothers Charles Coak, James Coak, John Coak, Bobby Coak, Andrew McDermott, and son Patrick McDermott Jr.
