Neil Webster Coan

Age 54, of Grand Blanc, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Neil’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Neil Webster Coan was born on May 4, 1971, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Dennis and Judith (Rice) Coan. A lifelong resident of Grand Blanc, Neil attended Grand Blanc schools and was an avid hockey player, proudly skating for the Grand Blanc hockey team.

He worked alongside his family at Coan and Sons before branching out to start his own business. Inspired by his father’s entrepreneurial spirit, Neil founded Atomic Grounds Maintenance, continuing the legacy of hard work and dedication instilled in him. He also worked with Precision, applying his skills and work ethic wherever he went.

Neil was passionate about boating and loved spending time on the water. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions, always cheering on his teams with enthusiasm.

In May 2020, Neil married his wonderful wife, Lisa, and with that, lovingly embraced the role of father to her two daughters. He took on that responsibility without hesitation and did so with deep love and commitment. Neil had a remarkable sense of humor; sarcastic, quick witted, and always capable of lighting up a room with his smile and laughter.

Neil is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his daughters, Samantha (Mitch) Logan and Megan (Dalton) MacArthur; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing “Posse” who supported us through everything: Steve, Tootsy, Leona, John, Shawn, Beth, Pattie, Jason, and Julie, and also to our friend Coby for her help. We are also deeply grateful to Compassus Hospice, especially his nurse, Dorie, for their care.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the American Legion in Grand Blanc.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to any medical charity of your choice.

My AMAZING, WONDERFUL, WITTY, SMART A** FRIEND. My life is forever changed because you were in it. And changed FOREVER because you no longer are in it. Who would have thought SOOOO MANY years ago when we met that our friendship would have stood the rest of time. I’m BEYOND GREATFUL for that time. You DON’T have to worry about Lisa and the girls because the POSSE has their back. The empty feeling I have in my heart will take time to heal (if ever) but until and if it does the memories we’ve shared together will fill the hole.
Kiss my bis sis Tracy for me and tell Mr. And Mrs. Coan they are loved and missed.
Until we see each other again…… Love your friend for life Pattie 💗

Neil became family when Samantha married my son. I liked him immediately and regret that I didn’t get time to know him better.

To Lisa, Samantha, Megan and all of his friends, I send the heartfelt sympathy of the Logan family.
