Jon Neil Schuster was born on April 22, 1937, in Manistique, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otmer and Eleanor (Carlson) Schuster.

Surviving Jon are his son; James Schuster, and his daughter; Jennifer Redden.
