Jerry W. Barker Sr.


Jerry W. Barker Sr., of Burton, passed away at the age of 74 surrounded by family at Hurley Medical Center on July 26, 2024. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Jerry’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com

Jerry Wayne Barker, Sr. was born on September 23, 1949, in Flint, Michigan to James and Maxine Barker(Pfundt). He was married to Betty Barker on June 13th, 1978. Jerry enjoyed bowling, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and playing guitar. Jerry was a very involved father and grandfather. He enjoyed getting to know his neighbors, and anyone who walked by his home. 

Surviving Jerry are his son; Jerry Jr, and wife, Amber Barker, daughter; Jessica Godfrey. Grandchildren; Shawn(Calysta), Jacinto, Jose Jr, Dysen, Brennen, Cooper, and Brady. Great Grandchildren; Nathan, and Luna. 

Jerry was preceded in death by parents; James Barker, Maxine Parchetta; wife, Betty(Schmieder) Barker; brother, Larry Barker Sr. 

The family will be holding a memorial dinner at a later date.

    My dad u was a hero to me came in my life with open loving caring n protective arms. A sense of humor u always was ready for a quick scare jump out at any given moment just for laughs. Played jokes on us. Understanding dad u was no matter wat ud see us kids thru it. If we failed u always was quick with encouragement. Made sure us kids were gud. No matter how hard the times was u see us thru it n it seemed to go by quick. All the trips to Daytona beach Rock springs n Walt Disney world r the memories I will cherish but not as much as I cherish u n carry u in my heart dad. Thanks for coming into my life n chosing to stay to make sure I was going b OK. U did a great job being a great dad a grandfather n a great grandfather ty for all u have done for us all
    U will b sadly missed n now ur new journey in heaven begins poor God lost his peace n quiet with u n mom arguing up there. I can only imagine. Uncle Larry prolly cracking up saying well there’s goes the quiet. 3 amigo rides again. We all miss u all. But dad this one hurts me the most. The bond between us will neva b forgotten. I love u dad. Thanks again for all u have done for us all. Rih … if u can if mom let’s u lol 😆 🤣
