Heather Noelle Fortuna


Heather Noelle Fortuna was born on August 4, 1988, in Royal Oak, Michigan. She passed away on September 16, 2023 at the age of 35 due to a sudden illness.

 

Heather was a sweet, unique, thoughtful, loving, giving and happy person. She was tenacious and always tried her best to overcome adversity in her life. She completed training at Marketti Academy of Cosmetology and is a licensed Cosmetologist in the State of Michigan; she also earned an Associate degree in IT from Macomb Community College. She used her formal education to work in a variety of positions, finally finding her place as a Design and Drafting Specialist forCraftline Cabinet.

 

Heather leaves behind love of her life, Mike Lasota. Heather and Mike were meant for each other with each of them travelling across states to be together. They enjoyed their home together in Grand Blanc where they loved to play games of all types with friends, spend time with their nephews and niece and raise their three cats and two axolotls. Heatherenjoyed her special interests and taking care of her home and family.

 

Second to Mike, Heather leaves her best friend and “Irish Twin” sister, Hillary (Justin) Sarate. Being 11 months apart, these two shared a close relationship throughout their lives. She also is survived by sisters Erin (Matthew) Fortuna Weinert and Holly (Jamie) Megges and step-sister Savannah Hickman. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her nephews Augustus, Cameron, Silas, Raylan and niece Liliana (the apple of her eye). She developed an especially close relationship with Cameron and Silas who will miss her terribly as she was a great influence in their lives.

She is also survived by parents’ Reo Fortuna and Thresa O’Dell and stepfather Glenn Hickman, Grandmother Rose Devine, Aunts’ and Uncles’ – Susanne Fortuna, Anita (Jack) Holland, Gabrielle Fortuna, Joe (Pam) O’Dell, David O’Dell, Chris (Amy) O’Dell, Rachelle Smith, the Lasota Family, and many cousins and extended family members.

 

Heather is preceded in death by her loving grandparents Jack and Carole Kavlakian, whom she was very close to, and her uncles Michael Fitzpatrick and (Marco) Tony Fortuna. She also lost a close friend whom she shared a special bond with – Ashley Wolfe.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Heather’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

    We will miss you, Heather. Until we are all reunited. It was nice to get to know you as an adult coming to Cape May in the last few years. I’m so glad you and Mike found each other and spent the last years together. I’m so proud of you for buying your own house and having such a great job. You didn’t take any crap from anyone. We all love you and I’m so sad that you are gone too soon.
