Age 59, of Flint, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Glen’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.
Glen Ray Shires was born on July 11, 1966, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair and Mary Jo (Arnett) Shires. Glen was born and lived his whole life in Flint, Michigan. In the book of Titus is says to be kind and gentle showing courtesy to everyone. He did that. He was a gentle soul with a kind heart, humble shy and very private. He gave to those less fortunate even though he had little himself. When he was young, he rode and raced snowmobiles and 4 wheelers with our dad. He liked working on cars and tinkering. He liked dirt bikes and muscle cars. He enjoyed going to the movies and hanging out with family and friends. On the artistic side he liked drawing and etching glass. Halloween was his favorite time of year. He was very good at theatrical makeup and shared his talent with many. But he loved animals the most. When he was a kid, he would bring cats and dogs home to take care of them. Actually, he did that until the day he died. His light went out too soon. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved siblings: his sister, Judith (Manny) Rabanal; his brother, Tom (Nancy) Shires; his sister, Crystal (the late Thomas) Lamberson; his sister, Nancy (Dennis) Mizell; and his sister, Peggy Moore. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, including: Susan and Hiedi; Jason (Jodi), Travis, Kobe (Hailey), Kim (Scott) Brabant, and Jacob (Samantha); Cassie (Jason) Nicholson, Elliot, Christie (Tim) Bueche, Ally, Jackie, Mattie, Josh, Cynthia Lamberson, and Lucas; Denny (Rebecca), Nolan and Ethan; and Christopher.
Glen was preceded in death by his Mother Mary Jo Shires, his father Sinclair Shires and brother-in-law Thomas Lamberson.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
