Geraldine Nothelfer

Geraldine “Gerry” Ann (Erskine) of North Branch, formerly of Hemlock, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 at McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital, Lapeer, MI at the age of 67. She was born on December 10th, 1949, in Saginaw, MI.

Geraldine “Gerry” spent many years working in the public school system, first as a substitute teacher and eventually as a speech and language pathologist before retiring. Before that, she worked as the Senior Center director for Richland Township, Hemlock, MI. She was an avid gardener and became a Master Gardener while living in Flippin, Arkansas for 7 years before she and her husband moved back to mid-Michigan to be closer to her two children and three grandchildren with whom she loved to spend time with and spoil. She married Gregory James Nothelfer of Hemlock, MI on August 8th, 1970 at the Hemlock United Methodist Church, Hemlock, MI. He survives her and she will be sorely missed by him as they have spent over 50 years as the love of each other’s lives.

Surviving besides her husband are one son and one daughter and their spouses, Adam G. and Jamie (Montgomery) Nothelfer, Midland, MI; Breanna L. (Nothelfer) and Ty J. Thacker, Leonard, MI; She is also survived by her mother, Sally A. (Rappleyea) Erskine, Jacksonville, FL; one sister and two brothers, Deborah K. (Erskine) Simpson, Jacksonville, FL; Robert III and Kathy Erskine, New Albany, IN; Thomas and Mary Erskine, Shields, MI and a sister-in-law, Patricia (Nothelfer) Zuzula, Freeland, MI; three grandchildren, Kali A. and Tori L. Thacker; Baily J. Nothelfer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father, Robert Erskine Jr, her sister, Gay Lynn Erskine, and her nephew, Christopher T. Erskine.

A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at the Hemlock United Methodist Church, Hemlock, MI. Cremation services have already taken place.
