Gaylord was born on March 6, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, the beloved son of Clarence and Hazel (Grace) Kelly. A proud United States Marine, he bravely served his country in Vietnam—just one of the many battles he faced and overcame in his lifetime.
Gaylord lived a full and meaningful life. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends and was known for his strength, wisdom, and generous heart. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and joy in the great outdoors. He retired from General Motors as a skilled carpenter, though his talents extended far beyond—he had a remarkable ability to turn everything he touched into something extraordinary. A lover of music and dancing, Gaylord brought warmth and energy into every room he entered.
He was a man of few words, but those he spoke were always filled with insight and encouragement. He set a powerful example for all who knew him, offering quiet guidance, steadfast support, and unconditional love.
Gaylord is survived by his loving wife, Margo; daughters Melissa (Darrin), Amanda, and Mel; brother Terry (Janice); son-in-law Frank; step-sons Rory (Julie) and Wade (Celeste); grandchildren Jake, Jerome, Justin (Heather), Andrew (Kelsey), Christopher, Layne (Madison), Josie (Matt), and Jamie (Mason); as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Amy, his parents Clarence and Hazel, and siblings Cleda, Ronnie, and Judy.
Gaylord was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the love he shared, and the lessons he taught through quiet strength and gentle wisdom. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service to honor Gaylord’s life will be held at a later date.
