Daniel Hetherington, age 82, of Swartz Creek, passed away on January 23, 2024 peacefully in his home with family. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Daniel’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Daniel Dean Hetherington was born on June 30, 1941, the son of Lloyd (Hetherington) and Helen (Rouse). Daniel was retired from the City of Flint in 1988, all the while being a foster parent for Catholic Charities of Flint for 30 years. Daniel loved traveling, fishing, and spending time with family.

Surviving Daniel is his son, Duane (Hetherington), daughter, Kelly (Henley), son Kenneth (Hetherington), son Frank (Welch), grandchildren Mary (Wilkinson) Haley (Henley), Eddie (Henley), Amber (Hetherington), Stephanie (Hetherington), Nicholas (Welch), Kyle (Welch), Daniel (Welch), great-grandchildren Kaydense (Wilkinson), Makyla (Wilkinson), William (Drew), brother Kenneth (Hetherington) sister Patricia (Kenworthy), sister Karen (Lamb).

Daniel is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Mary Hetherington, mother Helen (Dyer),father Lloyd (Hetherington), 3 brothers, 6 sisters, and a niece and a nephew, also many beloved friends.
