Patrick Nicholas Makidon was born on December 27, 1944, in Clio, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas and Sonia (Mokanyk) Makidon. Educated locally, Patrick graduated from Clio High School in 1962. Shortly after graduating from high school, Patrick began working for General Motors as a pipefitter apprentice. On July 6, 1964, Patrick heeded the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge on July 5, 1968. Senior Airman Makidon was assigned to the 778th Tactical Airlift Squadron where he served as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. During his time in the service, Senior Airman Makidon was decorated with a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Upon returning to civilian life, Patrick returned to General Motors and worked as a master pipefitter until his well-earned retirement in the late 1990s. Around this time, Patrick obtained an associate degree through Mott Community College, where he would later become an instructor for the same course. Along with working at General Motors, Patrick also worked as an instructor for drivers training tests, as well as owning his own business, Unique Driving Testers.

In his free time, Patrick loved sports, including softball, bowling, and golf. His greatest joy was watching the University of Michigan football games. Additionally, he loved playing games like Euchre, Poker, Dominoes, and computer games, such as Yahtzee, and mystery-themed games. Most of all, Patrick loved spending time with his family and creating new memories. He was a dedicated supporter of his kids and grandkids, and cheered them on in all their life events.

My wife June was Pats first cousin. We always enjoyed Pat and the time we spent at family gatherings or just seeing him out in the community. He was friendly and warm; always easy to be around, whether we hadnt seen him for a few years or just weeks. He was genuinely interested in what was going on with our family. He made us feel welcome. We are sad with his passing and but hooe that his family will have tons of memories to cherish.

Pat was one of the nicest guys on the trades at AC/GM. He was a quiet guy who always seemed to have a smile for you. I enjoyed bumping in to Pat around town long after we both retired. Condolences to all who knew Pat.
