Ruby Nell Tyler
Age 78, of Burton, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital. A funeral service will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Detroit Cremation Society, 8253 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Pastor Greg Rowan to officiate, with cremation to follow. Family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm. Ruby Nell Tyler was born on January 19, 1948, in Martin, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie and Doris (Vickers) Nelson. Ruby graduated from Robert A. Waller High School in Chicago, Illinois, as part of the graduating class of 1965. To further her education, she would later obtain her associates degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1976. Dedicated to providing the highest level of care to patients, she would provide aid at many facilities throughout her career as an LPN, including Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. She would retire in 1996 after decades of service. Ruby was a longtime member of Judson Baptist Church.
In her free time, Ruby loved to unwind with a good romance novel in hand. Additionally, she enjoyed watching Christmas movies, as well as various Lifetime movies. Ruby was an exceptional cook and baker, crafting up many delicious dishes her friends and family would savor. Most of all, Ruby cared for her family and would move Heaven and Earth to ensure they were safe and happy.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Anthony Tyler, and Keith Tyler; her siblings: Elisa Davis and husband, Rick, David Nelson, Dorothy Grubb and husband, Ted; her dearest friend, Diann Schmidt; as well as many beloved nieces, and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents: Lonnie and Doris Nelson; and her siblings: Richard Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Harold Johnson, Janice Duncan, Gina Nelson, Brenda Gregory, and Sheila Cronin.
