Lois Ann Downs
Age 90, of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Lois’ tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.
Lois Ann Downs was born on September 9, 1935, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David and Elizabeth (Ricketts) Sagamang. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1954. Lois held many different careers throughout her life, most notably being an office manager for a veterinary hospital for over 25 years. She also owned Mr. Donut from 1985 until it was sold in 1993. Lastly, Lois held the position of the Deputy Clerk for the Village of Metamora before her well-earned retirement in her early 80’s. She met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life of February 21, 1953.
In her free time, Lois enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She officiated two local knitting groups in Lapeer and Metamora that helped younger women learn how to knit. Additionally, Lois explored genealogy extensively, often researching her family through Ancestry.com. Additionally, she visited the Daughters of the American Revolution office building in Washington DC. Lois also found great pleasure in bowling, being a part of many leagues in Florida and Michigan.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Mary and husband, Dan Clark, Rachel Downs, Thomas and wife, Coleen Downs; her 11 grandchildren; 13, soon to be 14 great-grandchildren; her three siblings: Patricia Newell-Johnson, Margaret ‘Peggy’ and husband, Terry Miller, Barbara and husband, Robert Montgomery; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; and her five siblings: David Sagamang, Beverly Stenger, James Sagamang, Donald Sagamang, and Tomas Sagamang.
