Age 87, of Otisville, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Kenneth’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Kenneth Donald Owen was born at home on September 30, 1938, at his cattle farm in Hadley, Michigan, the son of Donald and Stella (Walker) Owen. As a child he spent a lot of his time working on the farm with his four siblings but any free time he had he spent with his horses. Ken attended country school until the ninth grade then went on to graduate from Lapeer High School. Right out of high school Ken got a job as a mechanic for Noaks Farm, he then went on to work in many different trades, one of his favorites being a heavy equipment operator where he helped to build two man made lakes in Lapeer County. A little matchmaking magic and some fancy footwork on a blind date started Ken and Merilee’s journey to forever. Together they have 3 children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. When Ken retired he enjoyed traveling with Merilee in their RV and spending their winters in Arizona until they decided to settle full time in Otisville. Ken was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables, he could turn a bare patch of earth into a rich and plentiful sight to see. Most of the time you could find him in his gardens or barn with his faithful cat not far behind or feeding the many birds he tended to.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Keith (Lisa) Owen, daughters Amanda Tarabay, and Lori (Kindel) George, grandchildren Chad (Sarah) Owen, Steph (Michael) Joseph, Devon (Joe) Madigan, Alysa Tarabay, Nyree George, Sheree George, Kahree George, Monic (Chris) Sutter, and great grandchildren Skylar, Gabe, Jack, Julia, Reign, Leo, Liam, Jillian, and Ella.
