Alice Ann Peitzsch
Alice Ann Peitzsch, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Rochester, Michigan. Born in Detroit on April 2, 1938, Alice lived a life of quiet independence and steady resilience.
Alice valued her privacy and personal space. She maintained meaningful friendships throughout her life and was known for her straightforward manner, sharp wit, and dry sense of humor. Her personality was unmistakable — candid, clever, and refreshingly authentic.
Professionally, Alice worked as an accountant for many years, serving several different insurance companies. She was dedicated to her work and appreciated the structure and purpose it brought to her life.
Outside of work, Alice had a deep appreciation for the arts. She enjoyed attending performances at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, exploring exhibits at the Detroit Institute of Arts, and making trips to Ontario to see plays at the Stratford Festival. These experiences brought her joy and reflected her thoughtful, cultured side.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Alice (MacNeil); her siblings, Bernice (Schafer) and husband Edward, Dorothy (Gardner) and husband Robert, Douglas and wife Vera, Wilfred and wife Elizabeth, Margaret (Burns) and husband James, Roderick and wife Fern; and her niece, Janet Gardner.
She is survived by her son, Shannon Recely, his wife Kate, and their children, Isabel and Charlie. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom carry forward her legacy in their own unique ways.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Alice’s final resting place will be at Bayview Cemetery in Goldboro, Nova Scotia, Canada — the region from which her ancestors immigrated.
Her life was her own — lived with quiet strength, a clear sense of direction, and a spark of humor that made her truly unforgettable.
