Michael Patrick LaVelle
Michael Patrick LaVelle, age 77 of Clio, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born on December 12, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Audrey LaVelle.
‘Mike’ as he was known by his friends and family grew up in Genesee County and attended Clio Area High School. After graduating he joined the US Army and spent two years in service. Upon returning home in 1973 he met the love of his life, Carol. The two settled in the area to raise their children marrying in 1980.
Mike was an avid reader, lifelong fan of Janis Joplin, liked coaching soccer and playing tennis and chess. Mike was also an active member of the Clio community. For years he worked at Borden’s Pharmacy, providing customers with a joke (probably inappropriate) and an infectious laugh. The volleyball games hosted at his home were boisterous and legendary. And open to all.
Mike is survived by his wife Carol LaVelle; sons Kyle (Sarah) of Flint, Michigan, Michael of Flint, Michigan; daughters Karma (Chad) of Clio, Michigan, Heather (Michael) of Henderson, Nevada; his five grandchildren and his sister Janice.
A small celebration of his life will be held Sunday August 24th from 1-4pm at the LaVelle residence. 2349 McCombe Dr. Clio

I’m so sorry for your loss, Karma, my condolences to you and your family ❤️
I am sorry that we haven’t seen Mike in a long time. He was such a fun person. I have a lot of good memories. Rest in peace buddy.
My heartfelt condolences to all of Mike and Carol’s kids and extended family. Like Pat, I haven’t been in touch in recent years and maybe did him a favor in doing so! I could write a small book on our early days of friendship before and after high school……hijinx, near misses, and an occasional encounter, travel adventures, gut wrenching laughter and many, many weekend get togethers with our kids. An original and genuine force to be reckoned with! I will catch up with him to continue those laughs on the side.
RIP Mike! You were one of a kind and a great guy!
Condolences to Carol and the whole family ❤️
.my condolences to family and friends. .he was very good guy . And a straight shooter. .
I went to high school with Mike. I remember him as always being a nice guy with a great sense of humor.
Always a smile and yes a joke that depending on who was around maybe have been inappropriate- but that was Mike- always enjoyed our few minutes of chatting at BORDANS. God you got a good guy- I hope memories bring some comfort to the family and friends.
Playing volleyball at Mike and Carol’s house two/three times a week in their beautiful backyard, we would play until we could no longer see the ball. I have never known anyone quite like Mike and I dare say I never will again. He was sensitive, caring, hilarious and a very intelligent individual. He could hold his own with anyone in conversations on varying topics. He shined brightest when talking of his children. The things he would say to customers while working at the pharmcy were outrageous and side splittingly funny. It is very sad to know that Mike no longer walks among us. My deepest condolences to Carol, the kids Kyle, Heather, Karma, Mike and grands. You were all so fortunate to have had such a love and so many wonderful memories. With much love to you all….Kathy.
