Ken Martin

Charles Kenneth Martin III (1965-2024)- was a devoted husband, loving father, and wonderful Papa to his 5 grandkids. On November 2nd Charles, better known as Ken or Kenny, age 58, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 1st, 1965, in Flint, MI to Charles Martin II and Margie McBride. Ken was a faithful member and deacon of his church for many years where he loved to serve by playing the drums. He enjoyed fellowshipping with his family, hunting, and enjoying God’s creation outdoors. Though saddened by his passing, Ken’s family and friends find peace knowing that he is spending eternity with his Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years and high school sweetheart, Sandy Martin, his two daughters, Katie Wylie (Bill) and Brooke Rightler (Joel), his five grandchildren, William, Dalton, Evelynn, Kenneth, and Joel Jr., his father Charles Martin II (Shelly), his mother Margie McBride, his sister Fern Shaffer (Tim) and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather Aubrey McBride, and his aunt Diane Martin

Our family would like to say a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Carla, for helping make a very painful situation a little bit easier. We would also like to say a thank you to Fern and Tim Shaffer, Caroline and Al Finley, Ralph and Gale Marcotte, Adam Finley, Rachel Vincent, Lauren Hilley, and Lesa Joubran for surrounding us as we said goodbye to the man who had the greatest impact on all of us.

There will be a viewing for family and friends to come and spend time with the family and reflect on the impact Ken had on all our lives. This viewing will be Thursday November 7th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Swartz Creek, MI.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 8th at 2:00 pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Swartz Creek, MI.

So sorry for your families loss. Charles was an awesome classmate and a down the road neighbor. My twin sister Suzanne and I chuckled when we found out we were all born on the same day, the same month and the same year and at the same hospital just hours apart. Hope you all find peace and treasure your memories.

I’m deeply sorry to hear about Ken’s passing. May he rest in peace.

When I first joined the company, Ken sat right across from me. I was always cold, so I kept a space heater under my desk to stay warm. Even though it made Ken hot and uncomfortable, he never complained. That’s just the kind of thoughtful, patient person he was.

Craig and I are so very sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. We’re sure there was a party in Heaven as he was celebrated for a job well done. And although Ken couldn’t claim victory over Cancer he’s had victory over death through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Praise God!! We will be keeping your family in our prayers Sandy. My heart truly breaks 💔 for you.
