Brien James Hollis


Brien James Hollis, age 63, of Flint, passed away on October 28, 2024. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in his honor will take place Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Visitation will begin at 3 pm and a service will proceed after at 4 pm.  Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Brien’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Brien was born on April 11, 1961, in Flint, the son of Vernon and Janice (Haught) Hollis. He owned and operated HVAC Boot Camp in Flint for over 15 years, in addition to being an accomplished HVAC contractor, instructor and teacher. Brien loved to play guitar and was involved in his own band for several years traveling and performing at various venues. He loved to talk politics and watching old movies. He adored his grandchildren and prided himself on being the best grandpa to them.

Left to cherish his memory are three children: Jason (Kaylee) Hollis, Michael Hollis, and Mary (Travis) Pillow as well as grandchildren: Paisley, Averi, and Ethan and several other family members and close friends. Brien is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Hollis.

    So sorry to read of yet another friend from school passing away so young.
    I’ve known Brien and his Dad and Brother since I was in 7th grade.
    My sincere condolences go out to Brien’s family.

    I love you as much as anybody on the planet did. I’m broken inside but staying strong in the outside and fighting the good fight of faith. You are a good Christian man. And you are where I want to and soon will be! Your brother JOE…. We will be reuniting soon.

    We grew up together heck our father’s went to school together. You were always helpful when I ran the apartments. The best HVAC man ever the playing guitar was a bonus. Keep on jammin my old friend.
