Douglas John Matthews was born on March 20, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cooper and Velma (Thor) Matthews.

Surviving Douglas are his two sisters; Melissa and Laura Matthews, his sister-in-law; Jennifer Matthews, his special furry friend; Riley, as well as several cousins.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents; Cooper and Velma Matthews, and his brother; Jeffrey Matthews.
