Viviane Rose French was born on April 13, 1934, in Espanola, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo and Ivy (Burnell) Girard. Viviane loved to play all sorts of card games, avid golfer, and bowling. She was a proud homemaker and loved her children dearly. Anything that was a social event, she was up for. Viviane recorded 3 “holes in one” while golfing. She was a long time member at the Flint Elks GC and Malone CC in Malone NY. She was an incredible card player, particularly in Bridge and Cribbage. She was brave and tough. She traveled the world, covid never slowed her down from activities. She continued to go out and dine and do the things she enjoyed. She loved the water, and loved to go fishing. She survived lung cancer 20 years ago and always had a positive attitude. She was a nice person, a giver always and laughed a lot. She grew with the times, enjoyed a daily Martini, dirty with blue cheese stuffed olives. She was proud of her Catholic faith, being an American citizen, charitable and unselfish. She’s a rare breed in today’s society and will be missed dearly by her family and the many friends she made over the years. Viviane resided at Tranquility Estates for the last three years and enjoyed life with the friends she made there. She played lots of games with them, claiming she was “beating them and enjoying it”. She was very happy her last few years surrounded by family and new friends. She was married to the love of her life, Ron, for almost 60 years.

Surviving Viviane is her two sons; Randal (Donna) French, and Mark French, her two daughters; Kim (CJ Short) French, and Tracy (Louis) Kedovary, her five grandchildren; Vivian French, Ronald (Johnny) Dukarski-French, Nicole (Ryan) French-Scramlin, Nicholas Kedovary, and Kyle Kedovary, as well as two great-grandchildren; Esme French-Scramlin and Stella Kedovary.

Viviane is preceded in death by her husband; Ronald John French, her daughter; Gale French, and her parents; Lorenzo & Ivy Girard.

So very sorry for your loss. Your mother was always gracious to any stray friends her kids brought by. She always made me feel welcome in her home, and I enjoyed her company a great deal. We were all blessed to have her in our lives.

Vivian was always happy to see Mark’s friends. I believe she taught me how to play cribbage prior to me beating Mark on a regular basis. I’m grateful for that, and for making me feel like family during my college days. She is truly a celebration.
