Terrence Michael Lipe
Terry, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on November 30, 2023, at 81. He was born on October 9, 1942, in Evart, Michigan, and graduated from St. Michael High School of Flint in 1960. Terry married Teresa (Dunlap) on August 28, 2004, and they enjoyed 19 beautiful years of marriage together. He was blessed with five loving children.
As a lifelong Catholic, Terry found strength and comfort in his faith and credited the Holy Spirit for granting him grace and humility throughout his life.
Terry’s career spanned nearly 40 years at General Motors where his hard work and commitment left an enduring impact. He remained close with his work friends for the duration of his life.
Known for his warmth, infectious laughter, and joyful outlook, Terry had a remarkable ability to turn strangers into friends. He couldn’t go anywhere without running into an old friend, including on an obscure Alaskan peninsula accessible only by horseback.
His love for the outdoors was evident in his lifelong passions of hunting, golfing, and beautifying his yard. Whether shoveling snow, sitting in a deer blind, teeing off on the golf course, enjoying weekly ping pong gatherings, monthly GM luncheons, and Friday breakfasts with pals, Terry could most often be found creating lasting memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; his children, Elizabeth (Robert) Noe, Greg, Angela (Jeremy) Cohen, Kevin (Lorrie), and Sarah (Andrew) Ellis; his siblings, Kenny (Mary Beth), Eddie (Pam), Mary (Jim) Allender, Anne (Robin), Kevin (Patty), Becky Noffsinger, Rita (Michael) Pando; nine cherished grandchildren; dozens of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Judeth (Michael) Perkins, Judy Lipe; brothers-in-law, George (Mary) Dunlap and William Dunlap. Special friends, Bill Fox, Bill Craney, John Sebela, and Mike Chittle.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Angela Lipe; his brother, Gary; brother-in-law, James Noffsinger; grandson, Joseph Ellis, sister-in-law, Sheryl Viohl, nephews Moe Lipe and George Dunlap.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on December 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 2:00 PM until time of service at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Davison, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: The Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center, 2101 Commonwealth Blvd., Suite D, Ann Arbor, MI 48105, https://alzheimers.med.umich.edu/contact-us/.
Great memories of laughing with Terry will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
May he rest in peace, and may his loved ones be comforted by the lasting connections he made throughout his life and the joy he brought to so many.
