Phyllis Beyer
Phyllis C. Beyer has been reunited with her husband of 61 years, Thomas J. Beyer.
Phyllis, age 85, passed away from this life on December 19, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living of Grand Blanc. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Detroit Cremation Society; 8253 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc. Pastor Robert Riggs of Holy Cross Lutheran Church will officiate. Family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life with the family will be in Cheboygan at a later date.
Phyllis was born in February, 1936 to M. Lowell and Dorothy (Lange) Conrad. Phyllis was a graduate of St. Joseph Michigan High School. She met the love of her life, Thomas J. Beyer, at Michigan State University. They married at the beginning of their senior year. She loved her career in elementary education, teaching in the Royal Oak and Grand Blanc schools. Tom and Phyl enjoyed boating, skiing, and spending time with their extended families while raising their daughters. They retired to Cheboygan, MI where they both enjoyed boating and geocaching. Phyllis was a trustee on the Cheboygan Area Public Library for many years. She also volunteered with the local Humane Society, enjoyed her book club, the Cheboygan Yacht Club, and cheering on MSU football and basketball. Go Green!
Surviving are daughters; Diana (Dave) Batema, Laura Beyer (Craig Riste), two grandchildren, Katheryn Lawson and Benjamin Batema, two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Rae and Logan David Lawson; sister, Thelma Ferguson, of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, David (Ann) Conrad, of West Bloomfield, Michigan; brother-in-law, William Beyer, of Indian River, Michigan.
Besides Tom, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law; Donald Ferguson.
Phyllis’ daughters also thank the Leadership team and staff at Brookdale of Grand Blanc/Holly for their care of our mother in her final weeks.
