Age 73, of Clio, passed away on August 9, 2022. In accordance with Lanny’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Lanny’s Tribute Wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Lanny Shelton Owens was born on May 13, 1949, in Golden, Mississippi, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Clara (Shook) Owens. He loved sports, especially baseball (Go Tigers!) and basketball (Go Green!). He served proudly in the US Navy and was a distinguished Golden Shellback.

Surviving Lanny are his two sons; Andrew and Timothy (Cheyenne) Owens, grandchildren; Nadia, Donovan, Dayton, Colton and Daphne.

Lanny was preceded in death by his parents; Clara and Shelton, brothers; Max and Ronnie and other friends and family.

Lanny’s family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be considered to the American Veterans Association.
